We’ve taken some pictures to try and show how side emitting fiber optic tape works, but the pictures are not the same as seeing this in person. The tape itself is made up of multiple strands of 1 mm fiber optic cable that are twisted together, then laminated into a ribbon for the entire specified length of the tape. One of the the tape's unique features is that it has additional 12 inch "unlaminated, non-twisted" sections at each and of the specified cable length. The purpose of these 12 inch sections is so the fibers can be easily bunched into a round cable for insertion into the illuminator port. The cable has a clear PVC lamination on one side, and a white reflective polyester lamination on the other side. This will keep dust/dirt/grime off the cable and make the tape brighter. The best effect that this tape has over regular round fiber optic cable is that it's much thinner and wider, and color changes are very dramatic!
